Conor Coady sends Everton teammate Nathan Patterson three-word message after win v Brighton

Conor Coady has sent a three-word message to his Everton teammate Nathan Patterson following the club’s 5-1 win over Brighton on Monday (8 May).

The Toffees demolished the Seagulls at the Amex, with the three points helping Sean Dyche’s side climb out of the relegation zone.

Young defender Patterson played the entire 90 minutes on the night as Everton picked up a much-needed victory.

“Still 3 to go,” Patterson posted on Instagram. “Need to stay focused. Enjoy tonight though Blues. UTFT.”

His Everton teammate and fellow defender Coady replied: “Top level fella.”

Outstanding performance

It was an all-round outstanding display from Everton, with every single player putting a shift in all over the pitch.

Patterson only found himself on the pitch due to the injury of fellow right-back and club captain Seamus Coleman, but the youngster showed all his class on the night at both ends of the pitch.

The youngster wasn’t given much of a chance going into the game given how he was tasked with marking Brighton star Karou Mitoma, one of the most dangerous attackers in the Premier League.

But Patterson won his battle at the back, and even represented a real threat down the right when he was allowed to get forward.

With Coleman ageing and with his contract soon expiring at Everton, Patterson looks certain to take over the right-back spot at the Toffees, and he demonstrated he is ready for that challenge against the Seagulls.

It’s also a nice touch from Coady, who remains supportive and a key part of the fight to stay up despite finding himself watching on from the bench.
