Everton players drool over Dwight McNeil in win v Brighton as ace compared to Lionel Messi
Alex Iwobi has compared his Everton teammate Dwight McNeil to Lionel Messi following the club’s 5-1 win against Brighton on Monday (8 May).
McNeil netted a brace in the stunning victory at the Amex, with the Toffees moving out of the relegation zone with the much-needed three points.
And winger McNeil played a crucial role in the win as he scored two goals and registered one assist.

“On top of the world, but have to stay focused,” McNeil wrote on Instagram. “Three more finals coming up – let’s do it together blues.”
Replying to the post, McNeil’s Everton teammate Iwobi wrote: “McMessi.”
Fellow Everton stars Demarai Gray and Nathan Patterson also praised McNeil for his display, with the former commenting “Sensational” and the latter commenting “Top.”

Superb performance
McNeil hasn’t had his most productive Premier League season in terms of goals and assists, but he is really starting to come to life at a time when his club need him the most.
The 23-year-old boasts four goals and one assist in his last five games for the Toffees, with that form key to their recent push out of the relegation zone.
Sean Dyche knows McNeil very well from their time together at Burnley, with that relationship now coming to life at Everton.
The attacker was a constant threat down the left-hand side for the visitors, who defended deep and remained patient before launching their counter-attacks, where the pace of McNeil was needed to help bring the ball up the pitch.
He showed his superb composure in the box to firstly force an own goal from Brighton goalkeeper Jason Steele in the 35th minute before his dazzling footwork saw him get on the scoresheet in the 76th minute.
The winger then blasted in his second goal of the game in the dying stages to wrap up a phenomenal win for the Toffees.
