Injury expert shares Everton update ahead of Premier League clash v Manchester City

Everton are set to be without five first-team players for their Premier League clash against Manchester City on Sunday [14 May], according to injury expert, Ben Dinnery.

The Toffees will be looking ahead to another crucial league encounter buoyed by their thrilling 5-1 win over Brighton on Monday evening [8 May].

Seamus Coleman was the latest player to join Sean Dyche’s injury list after sustaining a nasty knee injury during the clash against Leicester City [1 May], and is set to miss the rest of the campaign as a result.

Andros Townsend and Ruben Vinagre are both long-term absentees from the Everton squad. Dele Alli is also back in Merseyside to receive treatment after being banished from Besiktas’ plans last month while defender Ben Godfrey is also “ruled out” by Dinnery with a groin injury (Premier injuries).

Toffees go again

Monday’s 5-1 win over Brighton was totally unexpected given the Toffees’ struggles to score goals and the Seagull’s tremendous form in the Premier League as they battle it out for a European place.

After Coleman’s injury blow, many expected Everton simply to wallow and cave at the Amex further plunging them into relegation fodder, but that wasn’t the case as Dyche and his men pulled out a huge shock that will have certainly sent a statement to their relegation rivals down the bottom. Coleman’s replacement Nathan Patterson stood his ground superbly along with the potentially departing Yerry Mina.

The win took Everton to within two points off the drop zone in 17th but all that could change as Dyche will be desperately getting his side to refocus their efforts and desire for points as they take on Pep Guardiola’s side on Saturday.

Who knows what team Everton will be facing on Saturday, with the Citizens taking on Real Madrid in between their crucial Premier League encounter. The Toffees will be battling to stay in the division while City are aiming to pull clear of Arsenal, so it remains to be seen what side Guardiola will put out at Goodison Park with their second-leg tie against Real Madrid to come a few days later.

Regardless of what happens in the lead-up to the game, Dyche will be calling on his side to continue their new-found purple patch. Tough ask, but certainly doable.
