Farhad Moshiri power is Everton investment sticking point after MSP Sports Capital news – Finance Expert
We’re delighted to welcome football finance expert Dr Daniel Plumley as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Everton...
Dan Plumley has insisted that it is logical for Farhad Moshiri to prefer to partner with the investment group that will allow him to keep most power at Everton.
It has been reported that up to five parties are interested in investment at the Toffees, although MSP Sports Capital remain Moshiri’s preferred option at this moment [Alan Myers].
Plumley admitted that the owner may be a sticking point in negotiations at Goodison Park, with a clean break and full takeover sometimes the best step.

“Logically, that is the answer you arrive at,” he exclusively told Goodison News.
“We’ve seen all the way through that he’s not been stating that this is about a full takeover, he seems to be wanting investment as a minority and him wanting to retain a significant stake, if not the overall controlling stake.
“I think all the noises would point to that being the case still, again, you are then into negotiations with people who want to invest because that’s what he wants, but an investor coming in may not want that and want full control.
“That’s probably a sticking point as much as anything, sometimes in an ideal world it is easier to break ties and have a full takeover, but if that’s not what the current owner wants, that’s where the stalemate is.
“I think that logic dictates that if he prefers that partner for investment, it may be because he gets to retain a fair amount of power within that.”

Moshiri has always been a sticking point at Everton over the last couple of years.
Thankfully, the win over Brighton has made Premier League survival more likely, and that could be the biggest headache off the table with the threat of relegation.
It’s not guaranteed yet though, and hopefully that can be sorted soon so that this investment can take centre-stage and we can see Moshiri welcome new partners onto the board.
