Everton: Roy Keane left stunned live on Sky Sports by ‘just looking’ at moment in loss vs Manchester City

Roy Keane was left stunned “just looking” at Ilkay Gundogan’s opening goal in the clash between Everton and Manchester City on Sunday (14 May).

Gundogan perfectly controlled a Riyad Mahrez cross in the 37th minute before flicking the ball past Jordan Pickford with his back to goal.

The German went on to score another goal against Sean Dyche’s side, as well as clinching an assist in the 3-0 win.

“My goodness,” Keane said, as quoted by Sky Sports. “What a finish. I’m feeling my hip just looking at it!”

Stunning effort

Everton were quite simply run ragged by Manchester City at Goodison Park, with the Toffees brought crashing back down to earth following their high from the recent win over Brighton.

It was a potential banana skin for Pep Guardiola’s men, but his star-studded side simply blew the home side away in the final third.

Dyche and even the Everton supporters perhaps weren’t expecting much from this encounter given how their opponents are currently chasing the Premier League title, but they will be disappointed at how easily they crumbled on Merseyside.

In fairness to the home side, their defenders could do little to prevent Gundogan’s first goal, which really was a superb and innovative effort.

The manager will be keen to learn from this game and will already be looking ahead to the club’s final two matches of the season, where they play Wolves away from home and Bournemouth at Goodison.

An unthinkable Premier League relegation is now a real possibility unless the Toffees can pick up a few very positive results in the weeks to come.
