Roy Keane takes aim at Jordan Pickford live on Sky Sports after Everton loss v Manchester City
Roy Keane responded in a typical manner after a comment from Micah Richards that Jordan Pickford was a top-level goalkeeper, following Manchester City’s 0-3 victory over Everton on Sunday.
The Manchester United legend blasted Pickford for his lack of impact between the posts for City’s third goal in particular when Ilkay Gundogan curled home a sublime free-kick, preceded by a stunning improvised opener for the visitors.
Everton remains above the relegation zone, by one point, with their attention set to turn to Leicester City’s game at home to Liverpool on Monday.
As he analysed the goal from Gundogan which virtually assured Pep Guardiola’s team of the three points at Goodison Park, Keane ripped into Pickford, live on Sky Sports.
“Pickford, for the goal, my goodness,” he said.
“He looks so small in there. There’s no spring, he’s not anticipating.
“Micah said before the game he’s a top goalkeeper. He’s not.”

Complacency clash
Keane’s rebuke of Pickford is another example of the pundit’s sharp tongue, but Sunday’s loss wasn’t really about the England goalkeeper. Man City are simply too good and too strong.
They will now take full advantage of Arsenal’s slip-up against Brighton on Sunday by clinching the title at home to Chelsea next week and they will do it in style.
Meanwhile, the battle goes on for the Toffees and they should be energised by the opportunity that comes in the next fixture against a Wolves side with nothing to play for in a competitive sense. Sean Dyche’s men should have the edge from a motivational perspective but they need to go and perform.
For a change, the Evertonians will be hoping to witness a Liverpool victory in the Midlands, meaning that their fate will then lie in their own hands in this epic battle to avoid relegation to the Championship.
