Ian Wright makes Everton relegation prediction amid 3-0 loss v Manchester City
Ian Wright has made his Premier League relegation prediction after Everton were beaten 3-0 to Manchester City, and backed them to stay up.
The Toffees were beaten at home to leave them one point above the drop zone with just two games to play.
But after seeing all the teams at the bottom in action over the weekend, Wright told Premier League Productions (15 May, 14:40) that he expects Leeds to be the team to go down with Southampton and Leicester with Everton surviving.

“Newcastle showed through Callum Wilson, when they got their chance, bam, it was ruthless,” said Wright.
“Leeds didn’t do that. I just don’t think you can make those mistakes. The rash penalty in the first half. The silly penalty with what Firpo gave away. You don’t make mistakes like that and survive. I just don’t think you do.
“I think they [Everton] will look at their two games, I know they have just got beaten by Manchester City, but they will look at those two games, with Wolves how poorly they are playing, at the minute. Bournemouth are safe. Then they will get four points out of that, at least.”

Everton will be delighted with four points from the final two games, because with the way the season has gone so far it would almost certainly guarantee their safety.
Leeds have got tough games remaining in their final two, Leicester are a bit further back and Nottingham Forest are still very much involved in the battle too.

The likelihood of four points not being enough to outdo all of those teams is unthinkable and that has to be the target from the remaining games as a minimum.
Currently the team have the advantage of their future being in their own hands with two games to go, but with such little time to go in the season and no room for error it will obviously be close.
If Everton can prove Wright correct and stay in the top flight it would be the best ending to a season since.. last year. We need to build on that, but first we need to get it over the line.
