Everton ace Seamus Coleman shares injury news having ‘feared the worst’ after Leicester City clash
Everton defender Seamus Coleman “feared the worst” after being stretchered off against Leicester City earlier this month.
The right-back was forced off halfway through the match at the King Power Stadium following a challenge from Boubakary Soumare.
But the veteran Republic of Ireland international has now shared a positive update regarding the nasty-looking injury.

“The old football adage that you should never take anything for granted has certainly been applicable in the past two weeks,” said Coleman, as quoted by the Liverpool Echo.
“First of all, I feared the worst when I was taken off on a stretcher at Leicester City. It’s never a good feeling to get injured, but coming so close to the end of the season made it feel worse.
“Thankfully, the subsequent scans showed there was no lasting ligament damage, and I will be back playing a lot sooner than I first feared.”

Big miss for the Toffees
The 34-year-old wasn’t favoured in the early stages of the campaign, but he had done well to earn his place back in the team – as well as gaining the captain’s armband – before the unfortunate injury against the Foxes.
His fears regarding the severity of the injury were unsurprising given his past issues, but it’s great to hear that the defender will be back on the pitch in the near future.
Unfortunately for Everton, however, Coleman will not be able to help out in the final two matches of the campaign.
Sean Dyche’s men take on Wolves and Bournemouth later this month as they look to secure their Premier League safety, with youngster Nathan Patterson expected to continue filling in for Coleman.
The former has undoubtedly impressed for the Toffees, but the latter’s experience and leadership both on and off the pitch will be sorely missed, particularly given how it really will be the smallest of margins that will either save or relegate Dyche’s side.
