Everton takeover news: Sky Sports man delivers June update amid 777 and MSP talks, with Farhad Moshiri ‘insistent’
No Everton investment or takeover deal is expected to take place for another month, with Farhad Moshiri “insistent” that the focus remains on the team’s scrap for survival, Alan Myers reports.
Amid a Wednesday night (17 May) report from the Daily Mail that 777 Partners were on the brink of a £600million deal that could be pushed through in a matter of days, the Sky Sports man has provided an update that suggests further caution, with mid-June the likely timescale for any agreement.
According to his information it is MSP Sports Capital that remain the “more likely option” as competing news continues to be pervasive, but either way he doesn’t expect the Everton owner to settle on any course of action for some weeks yet.
In his latest update on Twitter the Sky Sports man wrote: “Farhad Moshiri remains in talks with a number of companies, looking to invest in the Club Miami-based 777 partners and MSP Sports Capital of New York are the two most advanced groups discussing proposals with Moshiri, with MSP remaining the more likely option at this point.
“777 Partners intentions are to buy a majority stake in the club, whilst MSP would be a smaller percentage investment.
“A decision has not yet been made by the Everton owner and is not expected to come until after the season is completed and possibly mid-June.
“Moshiri is insistent that the focus should be purely on Sean Dyche and the team securing the club’s Premier League status at this time.”
No clarification
If Moshiri doesn’t want focus to be taken away from the action on the pitch by developments off it then he might need to be informed that ship has probably sailed.
But from a purely practical standpoint it makes sense for anything as game-changing as a takeover, or even minority investment, to he held off until all parties understand the lay of the land.
The vast gulf in value between life in the Premier League and the Championship makes the outcome of the final two games of the season crucial to the terms of a deal, unless one of the interested parties wants in at all costs.

Dyche, against the odds, has got his side in position to emulate last season and secure safety late in the day, as Everton currently sit 17th and safe by a point ahead of a trip to Wolves on Saturday (20 May) and then a final day visit from Bournemouth.
With all manner of accusations flying around in terms of finances at Goodison Park right now, top flight survival may only be the start of the drama rather than a relief, but it is nonetheless still vitally important.
And if Moshiri is on the brink of moving on he will surely get a far better price for his shares should the Toffees maintain their record of never being absent from a Premier League season.
