Lee Hendrie stunned by Everton footage on Sky Sports v Wolves in Premier League

Sky Sports Pundit Lee Hendrie was stunned by Everton for their lack of a ruthless edge in the first half of the Premier League clash with Wolves at Molineux Stadium

With the Toffees still scrapping to secure their top-flight status, they were punished for failing to capitalise on chances of their own when the hosts grabbed the opener.

Hwang Hee-chan was the man to score after excellent work from Adama Traore in the 34th minute, but thankfully, Yerry Mina popped up with the equaliser right at the death.

Speaking on Sky Sports’ Soccer Saturday, Hendrie was full of praise for Traore whilst he slammed the Toffees for their profligacy in the box.

“It’s not so much about the finish. It’s about what Traore did, that resulted in the goal,” he said.

“Absolutely brilliant, it really was. On the turnover of play, Hwang’s got an empty net to stick the ball into.

“Unbelievable. The chances that Everton have missed have come back to bite them.”

All to do

The draw with Wolves provides a lifeline but Everton’s short-term future is still far from secure.

They will be anxiously watching on to see what happens in London on Sunday when Leeds United go to West Ham United in search of their first Premier League win in eight games, which would see them overtake the Toffees in the table.

Now it comes down to the final game of the season with Sean Dyche’s side having it all to do.

Tottenham Hotspur will provide the opposition in a contest that is a must-win game for Everton. Nothing else will do, it is as simple as that.

After the momentum gained against Leicester City and especially away to Brighton, it is now two consecutive fixtures without a victory, following on from the Manchester City game last weekend.

Three in a row could prove to be one too many, with everything on the line at Goodison Park next Sunday, 28 May.
