Neil Moxley blasts clubs who want ‘revenge’ on Everton, wants Premier League action
Journalist Neil Moxley has blasted the clubs who want “revenge” on Everton regarding their alleged breach of spending rules.
The Toffees face being sued for £300million by Southampton, Leicester City, Leeds United, Nottingham Forest and Burnley if they avoid relegation this season (Daily Mail, 16 May).
Those clubs believe they are entitled to compensation from the Merseyside outfit if the club are found guilty of breaching spending rules.

Discussing “who’s hot this week” and “who’s not” for the Sunday People (page 53, 21 May), Moxley placed Everton’s relegation rivals in the latter category, saying: “The legal action taken by relegation rivals against Everton for the Toffees’ overspend.
“The Premier League needs to tighten its regulations.”

Messy situation
It seems clubs will do anything to gain an advantage in football these days, with such a situation only going to increase the bitterness that already exists between many clubs.
But such competition is understandable given the huge financial rewards available in the modern game, as there is a huge difference between staying in the Premier League and dropping down to the Championship in this regard.
Everton continue to play the innocent party and believe they have done nothing wrong, but it seems their relegation rivals think differently.
Unfortunately it looks like this messy situation will continue for quite some time given how it will be a lengthy process to figure out all the issues.
For now, all the Toffees can do is focus on matters off the pitch as opposed to on them, with Yerry Mina giving the club a really good chance of staying in the division following his late equaliser against Wolves on Saturday (20 May).
