Paul Merson makes Arsenal transfer admission on Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin
Paul Merson believes that the ship has sailed for Dominic Calvert-Lewin to leave Everton and end up moving to Premier League runners-up Arsenal.
He claims that the Gunners had looked at the England international in the past but are not likely to make a move for him this summer.
Given the season he’s had, Merson does not see him adding value to the Arsenal side as he feels they need a 25-goal-a-season striker.
He told Give Me Sport, “They looked at Dominic Calvert-Lewin before. Would that be right for them after the season he’s had? Probably not.
“If Arsenal were to sign Rice and a striker who can get them 25 goals a season, they will definitely be finishing in the top four.”

Given his lack of availability and inconsistent performances, if there’s a decent offer coming in for him, most Everton fans would be happy to see the back of him.
Despite being liked by the Goodison Park faithful, he just is not the striker they need who can push them out of relegation battles and show up when the chips are down.
Even this season, if the Toffees are to survive, they have a lot to thank other teams around them for not being consistent enough.
No attacker has grabbed games by the scruff of their necks like Richarlison did last season and Everton have only themselves to blame for it.
They appointed Sean Dyche but did not give him any new signings to work with in January and he had to rely on makeshift options up front.
The Toffees should avoid relegation and they’ve got the odds in their favour but it’s still going to be a nervy final day of the season.
