Sean Dyche discusses mood shift as Everton fire warning to relegation rivals

Everton boss Sean Dyche has stated that his side is alive and kicking following the boost gained in Saturday’s last-gasp Premier League draw with Wolves, as reported by the Liverpool Echo.

Yerry Mina rescued a point for the Toffees in the final stages of added-on time, just as it looked like they were heading for a defeat at Molineaux.

A victory against Bournemouth on the final day of the season will be enough to secure Everton’s top-flight status, but first, they will look to see if Leicester City can get a result away to Newcastle United on Monday evening, which would impact the fight for survival.

When asked what impact the late equaliser will have on morale inside the Blues camp, Dyche responded in a typical robust manner.

“Trust me, at a club that has been in some difficult places it wouldn’t have been that different because there have been some mood shifts that I have seen here radically already,” he said.

“I wouldn’t have been too worried about that, I would have been worried about the next game because I park things very quickly.

“You have to (keep going). On the other hand, it gives us a strong feel of the group, the nature of the group, the energy in the group, and the belief in the group, and of course, it sends another message – ‘We’re alive. We’re ready. We are taking it on.’ I think that is important.”

Rousing finish

The scene is now set for an epic season finale at Goodison Park.

Dyche has obviously had an impact on the last few months as have the fans in different ways, but this one will come down to the response of the players in a game with so much at stake.

That only applies to the Toffees as Bournemouth will come to Merseyside with nothing to play for in a competitive sense and the hosts must use that to their advantage.

Their hunger and desire should be far greater on Sunday but they also need their players to step up when it is most required, in response to the passion, commitment and urgency that will emanate from the stands.

Dyche knows that the best possible message his team can send is to go on and win their final game of the season which should be enough to avoid relegation to the Championship.

Forget about the performance, it is all about the result and securing three precious points on their date with destiny.
