Danny Murphy shares Everton ‘problem’ live on talkSPORT as Dominic Calvert-Lewin verdict shared

Danny Murphy has reacted to the news that Everton may be without Dominic Calvert-Lewin for the final match of the season.

The Toffees host Bournemouth in the Premier League as they look to secure safety in the top flight for another season.

That task will be made much more difficult without Calvert-Lewin, with the Liverpool Echo noting that he is subject to growing doubts that he will be passed fit for the match.

“They are not hopeful of having Calvert-Lewin,” host Jim White said live on talkSPORT.

Murphy replied: “Well that’s a problem because they struggle for goals. And he has made them better.”

Big miss

Calvert-Lewin has been a real miss for the Toffees this season, with the club really struggling without the striker’s hold-up play, pressing and of course finishing.

He has endured another miserable injury-hit campaign, with his struggles potentially bringing his season to a premature end.

Everton will also be without some key players in other areas of the pitch, but without Calvert-Lewin it remains to be seen who will provide the goal threat.

The likes of Dwight McNeil, Abdoulaye Doucoure and Alex Iwobi have helped ease the burden on the striker in recent times, but Calvert-Lewin really is the focal point for all Everton attacks with his hold-up and link-up play key to bringing others into the game in the final third.

Sean Dyche won’t care one bit where the goals come from, as long as they come, but Bournemouth will undoubtedly want to spoil the party against their former manager.
