New Everton stadium development to be scrutinised by Liverpool Council amid takeover news

The new Everton Bramley-Moore Dock Stadium development is set to be scrutinised by the Liverpool council, according to the Liverpool Echo.

Work has been underway on a new home for the Toffees since July 2021, with a 52,888-seater stadium being constructed ahead of its opening before the 2024/25 campaign.

The financing of the ground has been in the spotlight in recent weeks with reports Everton has entered into an exclusivity agreement with MSP Sports Capital, according to Sky Sports journalist Alan Myers.

The American group has been linked with making an investment into the club which could ensure the £500m stadium is appropriately financed.

And according to the Liverpool Echo [24 May], the future of Everton’s new stadium development is set to be scrutinised by the Liverpool council.

“The committee will hear an update on the development of the new stadium, which is under construction by Laing O’Rourke. The future financing of the ground has been in the spotlight with reports Everton FC has entered into an exclusivity agreement with New York-based MSP Sports Capital”, according to the report.

Interesting

It is rather inevitable that this story will arise given the huge construction work being done and the effects it may have on the community of Liverpool.

The new stadium development simply has to be scrutinised and constantly overlooked to ensure the appropriate checks and procedures are being done before it can fully be opened ahead of the 2024/25 campaign.

Everton are a club in dire need of change right now and the news emerging that Moshiri has entered into an exclusivity agreement with MSP Sports Capital certainly points to a brighter future for the blue half of Merseyside.

The Moshiri era has been absolutely disastrous and the club desperately needs transformation both on and off the pitch, and having new owners overseeing things will be the kind of fresh injection and direction the club need.

Daily Mail journalist Ian Herbert, wrote [4 April] that the Toffees may be forced to sell their new stadium build if they are relegated from the Premier League but that all looks to be changing with this new takeover development, and the fact that the club are a win away from safety in the Premier League.

Some crucial days and weeks ahead for Everton.
