Ruben Vinagre to never feature for Everton again as news emerges this week

Ruben Vinagre’s loan spell at Everton appears all set to come to an end this summer as his fitness record has let him down.

In July, he signed from Sporting Lisbon and the Portuguese side had included the option to buy him permanently for a £17million fee. [90 Min]

At that point, it looked like a smart signing that would add to the squad depth and his experience in the Premier League would mean that he may even push for a regular first-team role.

However, things did not transpire as he would’ve wanted them to and the Toffees will have regretted bringing him in the first place.

He failed to make a single Premier League start and his two appearances off the bench accounted for just 24 minutes of game time.

On 23 May, Rajpal Brar, an injury expert, exclusively told Goodison News that he’s out for what seems to be a long-term injury.

His Achilles has caused him issues in the past and it is a complex procedure for him to return to full fitness, meaning that he can forget about being back for even pre season.

Thus, it makes no sense for the Toffees to exercise the option to buy him permanently and fans can expect to have seen the last of him.

It’s also an indicator to the medical staff at Everton to thoroughly research a player’s injury record before sanctioning a move.

The club could’ve brought in someone else and it would’ve been a better call than signing the Portuguese defender.
