Lille want to sign Andre Gomes on loan again for 2023/24 season with Everton future unclear
Andre Gomes could remain at Lille on loan for another season next year despite his Everton contract expiring in 2024, according to reports in France.
The Portugal international has enjoyed a fine season in Ligue 1 and is on the verge of helping the 2020/21 league champions qualify for European football yet again.
But according to La Voix Du Nord (26 May) the club can’t afford to sign him permanently due to his high wages, and will instead target another loan deal although it’s unclear currently what Everton’s plans are for him.

“There will also be the André Gomes case,” they wrote.
“He does not fit into the northern salary grids, but it is not excluded that LOSC will try a new loan, especially in the event of European qualification.
“The Portuguese likes Lille. You also have to know what Everton, with whom he is linked until June 2024, intends to do.”
Pay up
Everton cannot be in the business of doing charity deals right now to help other people out considering the position we find ourselves in.
The hope is that we will still be a Premier League club after this weekend comes to an end, but there are no guarantees of that. Even if we are, our financial situation is far from good.

So if teams want to sign our players, even if they’re out of favour, then we have to ensure we’re getting good money for them rather than just letting them go for peanuts.
Gomes’ wages are likely to be high and while getting them off the books is the ideal option considering he is unlikely to have a future at the club, but he could certainly be of use to us on the pitch next season just like he was for Lille this year if we can’t find a buyer.
If Lille want him then they will have to pay up or go without, because surely someone will be willing to put the money on the table for him.
