Everton told to sack staff members who’ve let club down ‘badly’
The transfer recruitment team at Everton “should all be booted out” after a dismal season on the pitch.
That’s the opinion of journalist Neil Moxley, writing in the Sunday People (28 May, page 55).
Moxley went in on hard on the recruitment teams at Everton, Leicester City and Leeds United – all of whom face a day of destiny in Sunday’s Premier League final day (28 May) with only one of the three clubs able to survive.

“The recruitment teams behind the scenes at Everton, Leicester and Leeds…either this season or last, you’ve let your clubs down badly,” Moxley wrote.
“They should all be booted out following relegation. The lack of accountability is simply frightening.”

Lack of foresight in Everton signings
You do not need to be a footballing guru to understand the 2022-23 season has been a truly miserable one for Everton, who will only be guaranteed Premier League safety by beating Bournemouth.
A lack of foresight over recent seasons, particularly when it comes to recruitment, has really stung Everton over the past couple of campaigns.
Moreover, the Toffees did not even make a signing in the most recent window in January, a decision that could yet still prove fatal in their bid for survival.
Their work in the summer was hardly sparkling either, with the signing of striker Neal Maupay – who has just one goal in 27 Premier League appearances – a particularly poor one.
Dwight McNeil has only shown glimpses of his talent, while James Tarkowski and Conor Coady appeared shrewd signings at the back but have been part of a disjointed Everton defence.
Survival is paramount to get Everton moving again, but if they do maintain their top-flight status they need a serious rethink in the transfer department.
If they do drop into the Championship, then ramifications could be damaging for years to come.
