Gary Neville absolutely furious with Demarai Gray after what he did in Everton v Bournemouth
Gary Neville was absolutely furious with Demarai Gray after he missed a sitter during the clash between Everton and Bournemouth on Sunday (28 May).
The Toffees were level just minutes into the second half when the ball fell to Gray six yards out, but he headed the ball straight at goalkeeper Mark Travers instead of into the net.
And while appearing on commentary for Sky Sports (28 May, 17:41), Neville ripped into the former England youth international for not being totally committed to scoring.

“He apologises to the ball rather than sticking his head right through it,” he said.
“Demarai Gray, he looks like he’s worried about getting kicked while the ball is up in the air.
“He’s got to do better than that. Your team and your club are about to go down.
“He looks fearful of a potential kick of high boot.”
Crazy
How on Earth has he managed to miss that? It was harder not to score.
Gray was in a great position, something that had been lacking in the first half while he was playing as a central striker rather than his natural winger role.

But once he got up unopposed in the box you just expected the net to bulge and for the celebrations to begin.
Unfortunately he looked scared of getting kicked and headed it into the ground where the goalkeeper was rather than just blasting it into the net, and it could well have cost Everton in the end.
Thankfully it didn’t after Abdoulaye Doucoure’s screamer from the edge of the box a few minutes later earned us the three points we needed, but it could have been oh so different after this Gray miss.
