Jeff Stelling sends Everton torture message to Sky Sports pundit live on air today

Sky Sports anchor Jeff Stelling sent an Everton torture message to his colleague Sue Smith, live on air this afternoon, on the last day of the Premier League season.

In what is also Stelling’s last appearance in his regular matchday slot for Sky, he poked fun at the former England women’s international for not being able to watch her team, Everton, in what is set to be a very dramatic climax to the campaign.

The Toffees need a win, at home to Bournemouth, to secure their Premier League status whilst Leicester City and Leeds United are waiting to benefit from any slip-up from Sean Dyche’s side, in their own efforts to avoid relegation to the Championship.

Speaking live on Sky Sports News (Sunday 28 May, 3:02pm), Stelling turned the focus on his colleague.

“Nervous as a kitten, Sue Smith,” he said.

“What have we done to her today?

“It’s a form of torture because we are not letting her watch Everton, she’s watching Manchester United against Fulham.”

D-Day decider

This is it, it all comes down to the last game of the season for Everton to secure their own fate.

It is in their hands, it is all about the result, with Dyche needing to find a way for his team to get over the line.

All that matters is winning the game, but the Blues will need to contend with the ongoing injury impasse that has severely affected the efforts of the former Burnley boss to guide his side to safety.

He will be without his talisman up front, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who joined Nathan Patterson as the most recent addition to the absence list but thankfully, the finish line is in sight.

Roared on by an electric Goodison Park, the Evertonians will give their all to provide the backdrop required for the players to deliver a performance on the pitch that will secure the result that they need to stay in the Premier League.
