Yerry Mina to quit Everton after Premier League showdown v Bournemouth – Fabrizio Romano

Yerry Mina is set to leave Everton on a free transfer at the end of his contract, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Colombia centre-back has made just six Premier League starts this season for the struggling Toffees, who must beat Bournemouth on Sunday (28 May) to guarantee their top-flight safety.

Mina joined Everton from Barcelona back in August 2018 but is seemingly now headed for pastures new.

“Yerry Mina will be leaving Everton at the end of the current season – he will be available on the market as a free agent,” Romano wrote on the Caught Offside substack.

The right time to move on

When fit and firing, it is fair to say that Yerry Mina is Everton’s best centre-back.

But the Colombia international has struggled with injuries during his time at Goodison Park and has failed to gain a foothold in the team under Sean Dyche.

Everton simply have to be cannier in the transfer market in the coming months and, regardless of whether they maintain their Premier League status, a few of the bigger earners will have to move on.

Mina certainly falls into that category, and there is little question that a break between Everton and the 28-year-old is best for both parties.

A player still very much in his prime, it is hard to imagine Mina will have difficulty finding a new club either.

With the turmoil Everton have been through over the past few seasons, it would hardly be the worst time for him to seek a fresh adventure and with his contract up it does feel inevitable an exit is impending.
