Robbie Savage blown away by exit-bound Yerry Mina after what he saw in Everton v Bournemouth

Yerry Mina impressed Robbie Savage with his last-ditch defending for Everton in their XXX Bournemouth at Goodison Park on Sunday.

Mina, 28, was playing his final game for the Toffees as they XXXX.

Fabrizio Romano reported on Sunday morning (28 May) that the Colombia centre-back will become a free agent in the summer when his contract at Goodison Park expires.

Mina went out playing well, according to Savage, who credited the ex-Barcelona centre-back as stopping a huge chance for Dominic Solanke to score in the first half.

“Bournemouth, what a chance,” said Savage on BT Sportscore on Sunday afternoon (05:10pm, 28 May).

“Everton face the ball away and it was Brooks who got onto the ball. He’s through wide and he cuts it back to Solanke.

“Solanke takes a touch on the six-yard box and I tell you what, he gets hit shot off and Pickford is stranded.

“The defender comes in and blocks it. It’s Yerry Mina; it’s a brilliant, brilliant block. Everton nearly go 1-0 down.”

Goodbye, Yerry

Mina’s time at Everton ended on a very good note, at least.

That block to stop Solanke in the first half helped save the Blues from relegation from the Premier League and all the world of hurt that would have unlocked at Goodison Park.

It’s just a shame that Mina wasn’t able to stay fit for the majority of his time on Merseyside because it’s ultimately injuries that really set the Colombian back.

It’ll be interesting to see who he joins in the summer.

As he’s a free agent, a lot of clubs will no doubt have their eyes on him but this is a player who does very well when he plays and has some big game and big club experience at both Barcelona and Everton.

But it’s just the injuries. Someone will have to take a risk and may also have to pay big wages for the centre-back.

We wish Yerry all the best.
