Everton transfer update as Premier League switch mooted for Tom Davies
Everton midfielder Tom Davies “may interest” newly-promoted Sheffield United, according to The Yorkshire Post’s Tom Coates.
The journalist believes the bit-part Toffees ace could be a target for the Blades as his contract expires this summer.
Davies made just 19 league appearances this season and was out of favour under Sean Dyche, suffering from injuries throughout his entire career.
“Sheffield United face the task of assembling a squad capable of being competitive in the Premier League,” Coates wrote for The Yorkshire Post.
“The Blades will be keen to avoid a repeat of the 2020/21 season when they fell out of the top tier at the end of a disastrous campaign. However, Premier League talent does not come cheap and the club may have to dip into the free agent market.”
And discussing Davies as a player who may interest the Blades, he wrote: “The midfielder has been a bit-part player under Sean Dyche at Everton.”

Summer move likely
Davies hasn’t always been out of favour at Goodison Park, with the midfielder once a firm favourite on the pitch, with his dribbling abilities particularly catching the eye.
But minutes for the 24-year-old in blue have dried up in recent times, with Dyche definitely not considering him part of the first team picture towards the end of the campaign.
Davies could, however, be playing in the top flight with another team next season, and a move to the Blades definitely doesn’t seem like a bad option for either party.
The midfielder would be certain to play much more regularly than he did for the Toffees, while the newly-promoted club would be getting a player that boasts plenty of Premier League experience.
That experience is key in the top flight, and could ultimately be the difference in staying in and out of the division. Moreover, at 24, Davies also has his best years ahead of him, and could come alive under new circumstances.
