Everton transfer news as Wout Weghorst move could come down to wages

Any Everton move for Burnley striker Wout Weghorst could come down to wages, according to talkSPORT’s Alex Crook.

Crook added that the Toffees are “very keen” on the 30-year-old, who spent the season on loan at Manchester United.

The Netherlands international played under Everton boss Sean Dyche while the pair were both at the Clarets, which ended in relegation.

“Everton, I’m told, are very keen,” Crook said live on talkSPORT. “Obviously he played under Sean Dyche at Burnley.

“He’s a very Sean Dyche-type player, probably isn’t a Vincent Kompany-type player when you look at the way that they played their way out of the championship last season.

“So certainly, I think there’s interest there. It could come down to a transfer fee and maybe wages as well.”

Interesting option

Weghorst’s name may have excited Everton fans a short while ago, but the majority of Toffees fans will perhaps be rolling their eyes at this link given the striker’s recent failures at Old Trafford.

He really did struggle with the Red Devils, which is worrying given how many chances he had thanks to his talented teammates.

But the Toffees are in desperate need of a striker, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin constantly struggling with injuries as his attacking teammates fail to fill in for him successfully.

And Dyche would not exactly be taking a gamble on a player that he knows well from their Burnley days, with Weghorst proving his ability back then with some important goals.

The Netherlands international doesn’t look like staying at Old Trafford, and it seems he won’t be used much by Burnley boss Kompany going forward, so his career is in limbo at this moment in time.
