Sky Sports pundit issues Everton board demand with members ‘under pressure’ at Goodison Park

We’re delighted to welcome former Everton striker Kevin Campbell as our exclusive columnist. Each week the former Toffees captain will be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Goodison Park…

The board is the “only thing that hasn’t changed” at Everton throughout the recent struggles and now it has to go through a “reset”, according to Kevin Campbell.

The Toffees escaped relegation on the final day of the season at Bournemouth but the relief was quickly followed by anger towards the hierarchy by fans on the pitch after the final whistle amid an ever-more broken relationship between the two sides.

Former captain Campbell understands why fans are so unhappy because Everton should not be in such a position and says now is the time for an overhaul to come in the boardroom.

“I think there has to be some change. There has to be a reset,” the Sky Sports pundit exclusively told Goodison News.

“What it’s going to look like I’m not sure, but you can see that the fans aren’t happy, and rightly so.

“The fans aren’t happy because at that football club the standards should be a lot better, they shouldn’t be fighting relegation two years on the spin.

“So something’s got to change. And the only thing that hasn’t changed in all this time is the board.

“So board members are under pressure. Moshiri, obviously he’s the owner, whether he sells up, they’re going to have to come up with something to appease the fans because it can’t go on like that.“

The relationship between the supporters and the board only seems to be going one way, so without a stunning thaw between the two it is surely going to require some members to be replaced for a way forward to be plotted.

Given the track record on the pitch and in the transfer market, as well as at manager, over the past few years is anything but a roaring success it seems there is little for the current set up to justify their continued position against such opposition.

Everton have escaped a hugely-damaging relegation twice in two years now, so it is absolutely imperative that lessons are learned and they don’t tempt fate again.
