MSP Sports Capital windfall at Everton could help new transfers – Finance Expert

We’re delighted to welcome football finance expert Dr Daniel Plumley as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Everton...

Dan Plumley has insisted that MSP Sports Capital investment at Everton could help with new transfers, as well as funding of Bramley-Moore Dock.

The Athletic reported on 5 June that the American consortium are already helping with funds for the new stadium, with up to £150million to be loaned to Farhad Moshiri for a 25% stake in the club.

Plumley admitted that new stadium costs will be high on the agenda, as well as re-structuring the playing squad depending on what management want to do.

“You’re logically looking at what is going on at that club,” he exclusively told Goodison News.

“There are certain needs that would need to fall into place with new investment, and we know that the stadium is close to completion, but there are some financial implications there.

You would guess that some of the money will go towards it, whether that is enough to foot the bill, we’re not quite sure as we’ve not quite seen the total.

Logically you would be looking at the stadium costs being high on the agenda, as is then reshaping and restructuring the squad depending on what management need to do.”

Sean Dyche will be watching developments in the boardroom with a very close eye.

Everton may not be able to blow the bank on new transfers given the scrutiny on their finances right now, but new investment could give him something to work with.

Time will tell, but MSP Sports Capital coming on board could be the change that has been desperately needed for years now at Goodison Park for Everton.
