Alan Myers reacts to Everton transfer links with Villarreal defender Pau Torres

Alan Myers claims he has not heard anything surrounding the speculation of Villarreal defender Pau Torres joining Everton over Tottenham Hotspur.

The Sky Sports journalist was asked a question on Twitter as to whether or not the Toffees were beating Spurs to sign the 26-year-old.

The Spain international, who has a £43million release clause, has also been linked with a move to Aston Villa, per Birmingham Live [2 June]

Via Twitter, Myers wrote, “Not heard that one.”

Bizarre

Torres has been linked with a move to Goodison Park but that was a report by 90Min in late 2022 ahead of the January window.

Since then, there hasn’t been any significant talk of him joining so this question has come out of the blue from the Everton fan.

While supporters would love having him at the club, if Spurs and Villa are actually interested in him, he’s likelier to move there.

everton

Spurs have a new manager, a billion-pound stadium and play in Europe more often than not – even being a regular Champions League side.

Villa have just qualified for Europe and their owners appear to be spending good money in order to take them to the next level.

Everton, are fighting for their lives, face potential sanctions and have a massive rebuild to look forward to this summer under Sean Dyche, so it’s hard to think that they can afford his release clause.
