Everton transfer news: Tom Davies to leave Goodison Park – Sky Sports pundit
We’re delighted to welcome former Everton striker Kevin Campbell as our exclusive columnist. Each week the former Toffees captain will be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Goodison Park…
The time has come for Everton and long-time midfielder Tom Davies to “part company” when the 24-year-old’s contract expires, believes Kevin Campbell.
The former academy product has featured in the Toffees first-team for the past eight Premier League seasons but after injuries stalled his rise he proved to be a only a peripheral figure under Frank Lampard and Sean Dyche across 19 largely-substitute appearances this season.
The change in manager proved to be a godsend for fellow midfielder Abdoulaye Doucouré, who had his own deal extended with the triggering of a year’s option, but no such developments have yet followed for Davies and Campbell thinks it’s time to move on.

The Sky Sports pundit exclusively told Goodison News it wouldn’t be a mistake to let him go, saying: “No I don’t. Sean Dyche has had a look at all the players now, it’s been six months or so.
“He’s had a look at them under pressure, had a look at them in training.
“He’s got to make decisions based on what he’s seeing on how he’s going to move the club forward.
“So I just think it might be time for Tom Davies and Everton to part company.”

With less than four weeks until Davies’ current deal is up and no indication that a new one is imminent it looks like Dyche has made his decision, and the midfielder will join Yerry Mina and Asmir Begovic in leaving as their contracts expire.
Conor Coady and Ruben Vinagre were officially announced as leaving when their loans came to an end so the manager has already committed to his first-team squad looking different next season.
What cash is available to him to make his own additions this summer will be crucial, but it looks like those of a year ago in the form of Amadou Onana, Idrissa Gana Gueye and James Garner may have ultimately spelled the end at Goodison for Davies.
