Dominic Calvert-Lewin gets Everton redemption opportunity after latest news

Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin has travelled to a pioneering neuro training centre in Germany offering him a chance to redeem his frustrating injury woes at Goodison Park.

The Toffees fan-favourite has endured several hamstring and groin injuries all season long, limiting him to just 17 Premier League appearances as Everton narrowly avoided Premier League relegation on the final day.

However, in a promising new development for the England international, it seems as though the club and Sean Dyche are taking drastic steps to ensure he’s back in tip-top shape next season, which may end all the noise surrounding his future.

According to the Daily Mail [8 June], Calvert-Lewin has travelled to a pioneering neuro training centre in Germany in an attempt to put his troublesome injury record behind him.

The Sheffield-born forward will spend a week in Munich, where he will work through a specialised training programme to gather a greater understanding of his body and how to deal with any future injuries.

The neurotraining procedure is believed to be based on stimulating the brain and nervous system to unlock further potential in the body.

The clinic has already been successfully utilised by German star Manuel Neuer and Austrian international David Alaba who now plays his football at Real Madrid.

Calvert-Lewin’s ongoing fitness troubles are incredibly worrying and Toffees fans may be forgiven for thinking what might have been had the striker remained fit for much of his career so far.

Dyche’s men were incredibly fortunate that his latest injury setback didn’t severely impact their quest for Premier League survival with Abdoulaye Doucoure proving the difference-maker in Calvert-Lewin’s absence.

The Goodison Park has just turned 26 which means he’s entering the prime of his career, and it’d be a shame for him to miss out on consistently playing at the top level, or even at a top club in future if his injury record continues.

However, this latest development is promising news for both the player and Dyche and certainly points towards him remaining at Goodison Park beyond this summer.

Calvert-Lewin certainly showed glimpses of his destructive self in the Everton relegation run-in, with strong performances against Brighton and Leicester City, but as has become custom in recent times, this was halted by yet another medical issue.

Hopefully, this new procedure puts his injury woes behind him as he still owes the Goodison Park faithful a full campaign of goalscoring prowess, like the one he showed during Carlo Ancelotti’s reign.

Thinking outside the box in terms of his fitness and body shape may well be the way forward for Calvert-Lewin, and this training clinic could yet help unlock another level in his performance on the pitch.

His talents are simply too good to be let down by constant injury niggles and Dyche has certainly offered him a redemption pathway to prove he can still be one of the best strikers in the land.
