Everton news: Dominic Calvert-Lewin travels to German training clinic for devised programme

Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin has travelled to a pioneering neuro training centre in Germany in an attempt to put his troublesome injury record behind him, according to the Daily Mail.

The Toffees talisman was hit by hamstring and groin injuries last season, which limited him to just 17 Premier League appearances all season long.

He will now spend a week in Munich, where he will work through a specialised training programme to gather a greater understanding of his body and how to deal with any future injuries.

Neurotraining is based on stimulating the brain and nervous system to unlock further potential in the body.

The clinic has already been used by German stars such as Bayern Munich’s Manuel Neuer and David Alaba of Real Madrid.

Promising

It is promising that Everton and Sean Dyche are finally trying to get to the root of Calvert-Lewin’s injury woes and the best possible ways to combat them.

The striker showed glimpses of his vintage self in the club’s relegation run-in, with strong performances against Brighton and Leicester City, but as has become custom in recent times, this was halted by yet another medical issue.

If the Toffees can somehow find a way to combat the Englishman’s injury record, they have one hell of a striker on their hands.

As it is though, Dyche will be forced to enter the transfer market trying to sign at least one centre-forward option, if not more, because the 26-year-old can’t be trusted to make it through an entire Premier League campaign.

Thinking outside the box could be the way forward for the striker, and this training clinic could yet help unlock another level in his performance on the pitch.
