Alex Iwobi reacts on social media with another Everton exit set in stone

Alex Iwobi has billed Isaac Price a “legend” after he shared an image with now West Ham manager David Moyes to confirm his Everton exit.

The 19-year-old midfielder took to Instagram to thank the fans, staff and his teammates as he appears set for the next chapter in his career.

We exclusively reported in April that he was on his way to Belgian club Standard Liege and that appears to be on the cards.

Alex Iwobi wrote, “Justin Bieber, Legend.”

Makes sense

The young midfielder has been handed his senior debut by Frank Lampard but the staff clearly do not feel he’s done enough to break into the first team.

Thus, a move to Liege where he will become a senior player may be better for his career progression as he will be playing regularly.

While the level is decent at Under-21s, it’s not the same sort of exposure he will get being a first-team player in another country.

Everton

It remains to be seen if Everton will be due for compensation as they have trained the player through his youth and him leaving on a free makes them entitled to it.

He will just be among a handful of exits with Yerry Mina and Abdoulaye Doucoure also set to part ways with the club post June.

Technically, they’re still on the Toffees’ payroll as their contracts are there until 30 June but after that, they will become free agents.
