Everton transfer news: Sean Dyche wants to sign new left-back and goalkeeper – Paul Joyce
Sean Dyche wants Everton to sign a new left-back and a backup goalkeeper as well as new forwards this summer, according to Paul Joyce.
The Toffees are set to release Asmir Begovic at the end of his contract with the club, while Ruben Vinagre’s loan deal ended and was not turned permanent after he failed to make any sort of impact last season.
And after narrowly avoiding relegation from the Premier League, Dyche wants both players to be replaced during the summer window although attacking reinforcements remain the priority.

“Sean Dyche wants to sign a new left back for Everton this summer,” he wrote in The Times (9 June).
“Attacking options are also a priority this transfer window while the club is also wanting a new backup Goalkeeper.”
Depth
Everton absolutely need more reinforcements for next season, and replacing the outgoing players alone simply won’t be enough.
Vinagre was barely used last season and Dyche used all of Vitalii Mykolenko, Ben Godfrey, Mason Holgate and Dwight McNeil in that position at different points due to injuries and suspensions.

But bringing in proper cover or competition for Mykolenko would make for far better squad depth next season, and would allow Godfrey and Holgate to either be moved on or focused on being a central defender.
As for the goalkeeper the likelihood is that the club will look at the free agent market to find someone as they will be brought in simply to be an understudy to Jordan Pickford.
Attack needs big upgrades and the majority of the budget needs to go on that, but it’s not the only area of the squad that needs strengthening and it seems like Dyche knows that too.
