Everton transfer news: Yerry Mina move to Besiktas on verge of collapse as £57k per-week wage demands emerge

Yerry Mina’s proposed move to Besiktas has collapsed after his wage demands of £57,000 per-week were deemed excessive, with his Everton exit confirmed.

The Toffees confirmed that the Colombian central defender will leave the club at the end of his contract this month, having spent five years on Merseyside and becoming a fan favourite.

But while Besiktas felt that they had made “serious progress” on a deal to take him to Turkey, a deal has now been “suspended” according to Fanatik (10 June) because of his excessive demands.

“It has been stated that Mina, who has many suitors due to his vacancy, wants 2.5 million Euros of guaranteed fee, 3 million Euros of signature money and a three-year contract,” they wrote.

“After the annual cost of the 28-year-old, 1.95m stopper reached 3.5 million Euros, Kartal came to the point of suspending this transfer.”

Bargain

In England, getting Mina on wages like those seems like a bargain in today’s game considering his quality and pedigree.

Besiktas were reportedly ready to offer him just £41,000 per-week and when you think that he’s been playing in England for five years earning Premier League wages, it’s no surprise he has turned his nose up at that.

His exit from Goodison Park has already been confirmed because we can’t afford the wages he wants, which certainly is a concern considering how much business we need to do in this transfer window.

Mina is now in the peak of his career and will be a great addition to whatever team he turns out for next season, but it now seems highly unlikely that he will be in Turkey with Besiktas.

It’s their loss really, because he could quite easily be the difference between winning the league or not, just as he was for Everton when it came to Premier League survival or relegation.
