Besiktas have made “serious progress” in their bid to sign Yerry Mina on a free transfer from Everton for next season, according to Takvim.
The Colombian central defender has recently broken back into the team under Sean Dyche but remains out of contract at the end of the season, with no sign of a renewal on the cards.
Now a report from Takvim (17 May) claims that manager Senol Gunes has made Mina a priority target and the Turkish club have made progress on convincing him to join.
The manager is convinced that he wants Mina to be part of the squad and Besiktas have been in talks with the defender to get a deal over the line.
Shame
Mina has always been a popular figure at Goodison Park since joining from Barcelona, but his biggest issue has been the fact that he just can never stay fit.

Aerially he is incredibly dominant, physically he is able to go toe-to-toe with anyone and he’s also very comfortable and progressive on the ball too.
But with his regular injury troubles and his high wages, it would be crazy of Everton to try and renew his contract any time soon with the situation that we’re in.
There are plenty of strong defensive options in the squad already and with our Premier League status not yet secured, it doesn’t make sense to commit to anything just yet.
So long as he continues to perform for us before the end of the season then best of luck to him with whatever he chooses to do next season. But until then, it’s Everton who should be at the front and centre of his mind.
