Everton want to sign ex-Wolves defender Romain Saiss, set to leave Besiktas – Santi Aouna
Everton are in the race to sign former Wolves central defender Romain Saiss as he looks to leave Besiktas this summer according to FootMercato.
The Toffees have allowed Yerry Mina to leave at the end of his contract, while Conor Coady has returned to Wolves at the end of his loan move and the club are not against the idea of allowing Mason Holgate and Ben Godfrey to leave the club.
That will leave them short in the middle, and Morocco captain Saiss has now emerged as a target as he looks to stay in Europe rather than join a Qatari side where he received a “huge” offer.

“Nottingham Forest and Everton are in the race to sign Saiss, he’s set to leave Besiktas this summer,” journalist Santi Aouna wrote on his personal Twitter account (10 June).
“Saiss received a huge offer from [Qatar] but his priority is to stay in [Europe].
“Interest from French clubs.”
Experience
Jarrad Branthwaite is set to return for the new season after his excellent loan move with PSV Eindhoven in the 2022/23 season, and James Tarkowski is the first-choice defender. Outside of that though, everything is open.
Michael Keane both won and lost his place in the team under Dyche since he came in and everyone else’s future is up in the air meaning reinforcements are certainly needed.

Saiss would likely be quite a cheap signing considering his age, but the experience and know-how he brings would be fantastic as well as the fact he is a natural born leader.
With 110 Premier League appearances for Wolves he also knows the league well and knows what is required of him to succeed.
It would be a shrewd bit of business from Dyche and Everton, and beating Nottingham Forest to the signing would make it that little bit sweeter as we’ll likely be competing with them next season for positions.
