Everton are ‘crying out for natural goalscorer’ says Dean Jones amid Moussa Dembele links

Sean Dyche will need to bring a new striker to Everton this summer in order to avoid another relegation battle, journalist Dean Jones has told GIVEMESPORT.

Moussa Dembele is one of the strikers Everton are reportedly interested in bringing to Goodison Park this summer following the 26-year-old’s departure from Lyon after he scored 70 goals in 172 appearances for the club.

As reported by journalist Fabrizio Romano on 12 June, the free agent is attracting interest from all around Europe, with Everton being one of the clubs mentioned in the Italian’s tweet.

There is no doubting Dembele’s goalscoring prowess with the former Celtic man’s best season coming only two years ago as he scored 21 league goals in just 30 appearances for Lyon during the 2021/2022 campaign.

But since falling out of favour with manager Laurent Blanc this season, Dembele is now available on a free transfer, and journalist Dean Jones has told GIVEMESPORT that although the deal would be tricky, it is a move they should still be targeting.

“Everton, after back-to-back relegation battles, is a bit of a hard sell. But I can completely understand why they would try and get into that conversation because that is a team that’s crying out for a natural goalscorer.”

Brilliant business

If Everton can bring Dembele to the club it would be an incredible addition. With the club’s current financial problems, a free transfer suits them down to the ground and players of this quality don’t often come around as free agents.

The Toffees should be doing everything in their power to get this deal across the line. Not only is Dembele a proven out-and-out goalscorer, but his time at Celtic where he won back-to-back trebles demonstrates his winning mentality.

Jones mentioned that it would be a hard sell, however, with the other clubs mentioned in Romano’s tweet, such as Turkish side Galatasaray and Saudi clubs, only Everton can offer Premier League football, which would likely be the most attractive option for the striker.

At the age of just 26, the player still has time on his side and will surely still want to challenge himself in one of Europe’s best leagues, such as the Premier League. If Everton could pull it off, they can be optimistic about fighting higher up the league next year.
