Everton handed transfer boost in Viktor Gyokeres pursuit as Coventry City ace feels ‘at home’ in England
Everton have been handed a major boost in their pursuit of Coventry City ace Viktor Gyokeres, who feels “at home” in England.
The Toffees are one of several English clubs chasing the striker this summer, according to the Record [03 June, page 12].
Gyokeres banged in 21 goals from his 46 Championship matches this season before his Coventry side lost the play-off final to Luton Town.

When asked if it is an advantage to stay in England because he has been in the country for a while and knows how it works, Gyokeres told outlet fotbollskanalen: “It’s clear that it makes it easier if I stay there.
“I have been there for many years now and feel at home there. But then we’ll see what happens.”

One to watch
While the long-term future of the Swedish star is uncertain, one certainty is that he had a superb season for the Championship side.
The 25-year-old played a key role as Coventry enjoyed a superb league campaign, with his club heartbreakingly falling at the final hurdle as they lost to Luton on penalties in the final match of the season.
Another certainty regarding Toffees target Gyokeres is that he is well-liked by various clubs, who are now seemingly involved in a massive battle to land his signature this summer.
It is very difficult for many players to make the step up from Championship to Premier League, but it looks like Gyokeres should not have too many issues in this area, which is one reason why Everton are seemingly chasing him.
The striker will be hoping to follow in the footsteps of the likes of fellow forwards Aleksandar Mitrovic, Ollie Watkins and Ivan Toney, both of which are top flight stars after shining in the second division.
