Everton transfer news: Wout Weghorst overheard in Sean Dyche discussion on international duty amid Burnley links
Wout Weghorst has been overheard discussing Everton boss Sean Dyche on international duty with the Netherlands amid reported interest in signing the striker.
According to talkSPORT on 4 June the Toffees are looking to sign the Burnley forward after Manchester United decided not to make his loan move to Old Trafford permanent.
Fabrizio Romano also reported via Twitter on 7 June that Everton and Spanish sides are now in the race for the the 30-year-old, and it is in that context that Weghorst was heard speaking about Dyche to an international teammate.
In the Dutch national teamโs YouTube video on Tuesday (13 June, 2m 25s) the former charge of the Everton boss at Turf Moor can be overheard behind Virgil van Dijk saying, as per the Liverpool Echo: โHeโs my old trainer from Burnley, though, Dycheโ.
No coincidence
It isnโt hard to put two and two together to reach the conclusion that Weghorst might have been discussing a potential move this summer as players frequently do at this time of year, and while it certainly doesnโt mean he is necessarily headed to Goodison he must be aware of the link.
Whether that is simply because he has heard the reports or there has been contact behind the scenes is unclear for now.
But Everton certainly need a striker they can afford and Dyche has already proven he is will rely on those he has coached at Burnley before dropping Conor Coady to partner Michael Keane with James Tarkowski in defence.

After going goalless in the Premier League in his half season at Old Trafford, with just two goals in all competitions, there have to be questions over whether he is the man to kickstart the flagging Everton attack.
He had a strong record with Wolfsburg in the Bundesliga, scoring 59 league goals at a rate of slightly better than one in two, and embodies the profile of a โSean Dyche type of playerโ.
But he only netted twice in the English top flight under him at Burnley so it may be that he simply doesnโt suit the Premier League, despite expectations.
He seems more likely to get a game in the top flight under his former Burnley boss at Goodison than he now would under Vincent Kompany in a very different promoted Clarets side.
But when Everton only moved on a goal-shy target man in Salomon Rondon in recent months there are likely to be doubts over adding a new one.
