Everton must quickly cut all ties with wantaway Jean-Philippe Gbamin as Goodison Park transfer decision made
Jean-Phillippe Gbamin desperately wants to leave Everton this summer and return to Germany and the Toffees can’t afford to waste time on cutting all ties.
The 27-year-old defensive midfielder has endured a torrid four-year spell at Goodison Park since his big-money £25m move from Mainz in 2019, signed as a replacement for Idrissa Gueye who left to join Paris Saint-Germain.
Gbamin has only been resigned to eight games in an Everton shirt, including six in the Premier League, and was on loan at Turkish Super Lig side Trabzonspor last term with his Goodison contract not up until 2024.

And the midfield ace’s agent Bernard Collignon speaking to BBC Sport [30 May] confirms they are working to grant him a new project, preferably back in Germany.
He said: “We will have to find another project for him. I am the one who chose Everton for him because it would have been a stepping stone to move on elsewhere.
“There was interest from Arsenal, Tottenham and even Jurgen Klopp wanted to sign him for Liverpool six months before but now Jean-Philippe wants to go back to Germany.”
“It is unbelievable what has happened at Everton,” added Collignon. “Jean-Philippe is so disappointed with everything that has happened and how things have not worked out for him.”
Following his agent’s comment and decision regarding his future at Goodison Park, it certainly seems as if the rumour mill regarding his future on Merseyside is frustratingly continuing.
German outlet Bild revealed on 16 June, that Gbamin is fed up with life at Everton and desperately wants a return to the Bundesliga with an exit this summer very much likely.

With Everton facing an uncertain summer regarding their financial situation and ability to spend in the market, Sean Dyche and his team simply cannot afford a saga involving a player who should no longer be on their books right now, which certainly says much of the mediocrity Everton have been associated with both on and off the pitch for so long.
Their lack of ruthlessness and decisiveness in the market is costing them dearly, and that is certainly evident through Gbamin.
The Ivorian international was supposed to be the Everton answer to the departed Gueye when he left for Paris Saint-Germain in 2019, but because of recurring injury and fitness issues, that £25m spent has now proven an absolute waste.
Gbamin certainly had some talent in him, emerging as a tough-tackling, dominant and assured midfielder who could have provided Everton with the midfield base they desperately needed in Gueye’s absence, but the Goodison faithful weren’t given the opportunity to see it with his freakish and recurring injury troubles.
Signing Gbamin certainly will go down as one of Everton’s worst transfer decisions over the past decade or so and it’s a good thing that his agent has spoken out regarding his future.

It’s clear both parties don’t want him to take the Goodison Park pitch again, and it’s definitely best for all parties involved that he sets sail elsewhere this summer.
With Dyche desperate to revamp his squad ahead of the start of pre-season in a few weeks, it is imperative Everton swiftly sort out Gbamin’s departure in order to usher in a new era at Goodison Park.
