Everton to submit official bid for Viktor Gyokores transfer this week

Everton are set to launch their official bid to sign Coventry City striker Viktor Gyokeres, according to O Jogo.

The Portuguese newspaper has reported in its print edition [19 June, pg 9] that Sean Dyche has demanded his side sign a new striker this summer for his new-look team.

It appears as though his wishes are being granted, with a formal proposal set to be fired this week for the Swedish international who is ready to move on.

The newspaper wrote: “Everton will submit a formal proposal this week.

“The striker has ruled out staying at Coventry, with whom he has a contract until 2024, and is waiting for approaches from top Premier League clubs which, until now, have not existed.

“Everton manager Sean Dyche has indicated he needs a striker to bolster the Toffees squad and the club table a bid this week for Gyokeres.”

Do it.

This is exactly what Everton needed, and they need it now.

Gyokeres was sensational for Coventry last season, and at times pushed them forward himself to the play-off final where they lost to Luton at Wembley.

The Swedish international was second in the Championship goal tallies, finishing with 21 goals, but also adding 12 assists, with no other player involved in more goals across the division.

Dyche is said to not trust Dominic Calvert-Lewin and his injury worries, and who blames him given the torturous few years for the England international.

Gyokeres is a similar player with a stocky, powerful build, but he has a turn of pace which will no doubt cause any defence problems in the Premier League.

Having been sold by Brighton to Coventry too, he will have a point to prove at the highest level of English football, and let’s hope he will be doing that with Everton, no one else.
