Injury Expert details reason for Everton parting ways with Andros Townsend
We’re delighted to welcome injury expert Dr Rajpal Brar as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the injury situation at Everton...
Everton and Andros Townsend parting ways was a sensible decision with the English attacker being ruled out with an ACL injury, believes Rajpal Brar.
The former Newcastle and Crystal Palace attacker failed to play a single minute of this past season with Frank Lampard revealing that he had suffered a setback.
With his contract due to expire at the end of June, the club made an official announcement that he will not be signing a new contract.

Speaking exclusively with Goodison News, Brar, a specialist in Physical Therapy and Sports Scientist, said, “Believe he had a major setback in recovery which isn’t entirely all that unsurprising.
“Considering the fact an ACL injury can take 18-24 months to return from and manager Sean Dyche really looks to rate highly explosive and athletic players, the separation makes sense to me.”
Townsend signed for the Toffees under Rafa Benitez on a free transfer and appeared to hit the ground running at Goodison Park.

He even scored a miraculous screamer for Everton and that’s certainly a strike that will live long in the minds of the supporters.
However, inconsistencies in his form and fitness made this decision easier for the club to make and he will be leaving the club for good within days.
It remains to be seen if he ends up at another Premier League club, but given his physical condition, that does seem unlikely.
