Another costly legal battle now on cards at Everton – Finance Expert
We’re delighted to welcome football finance expert Dr Daniel Plumley as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Everton...
Dan Plumley has insisted that another legal battle at Everton, this time with Carlo Ancelotti will just be very costly and time insensitive.
The finance expert admitted that it is just another issue hanging over the club on top of the FFP charge, the potential takeover and new stadium build.
It comes after no settlement was reached with the Italian over contingent payments ahead of his move to Real Madrid from Goodison Park.

“It’s something the club have got to deal with,” he exclusively told Goodison News.
“We’ve talked about the FFP charge and getting ready for that in October, the takeover, stadium, there is just a lot things going on and this is another you’ve got to deal with.
“If it is not going to be reached by an out-of-court settlement, that complicates things further as then you’re into legal battles, that is costly and time intensive.
“It is something the club have to get right if they’re going into a court battle, so there will be a lot of energy spent on that as well as the financial cost, so another thing in the mix that despite the positives of staying in the Premier League that is hanging over the club.”

It feels as though problems just follow Everton around.
The longer things like this go on under the ownership of Farhad Moshiri, the longer it will take for any investment or takeover to go through, as we have seen with the MSP Sports Capital move not yet being confirmed.
Hopefully, we can soon get to a stage where Everton have nothing hanging over them, it just feels as though that is a very long way away.
