Everton to decide on Ellis Simms exit within days amid transfer development – Alan Myers

Everton forward Ellis Simms is set to have his future resolved very soon, according to Sky Sports’ Alan Myers.

The broadcaster and Everton fan reported via his Twitter (20 June) that three clubs are interested in the club’s young striker Simms. It is believed that Sunderland could be one of those three clubs after Simms spent the beginning of the 2022/23 season on loan at the Stadium of Light.

And it appears as if the player won’t have to wait long for his future to be resolved either, with the Toffees looking to make a swift decision.

“Three clubs have made their interest known in Simms, no bid accepted at this point but a decision expected in the next few days,” Myers wrote.

Minutes needed

It seems increasingly likely that Simms will leave Goodison Park this summer and this time it may likely be permanent.

The 22-year-old was recalled from his loan at Sunderland in January to provide options for Everton in their fight for survival however could only manage one goal in his eleven league appearances.

That goal was a memorable one, an equaliser at Stamford Bridge, and it felt after that moment Simms may really be able to help the Toffees, however, Dyche was clearly not a fan of what he was seeing.

In the final seven games of the season, Simms played just 10 minutes from the bench. Despite the club’s goalscoring troubles, Dyche would not turn to Simms and that would be a big enough hint that it is time to make his exit.

The player’s priority will be first-time football and while it remains to be seen exactly where that will be, it certainly doesn’t appear to be an option at his current club.

Simms will hope the news is true and his future is to be resolved soon so that he can focus on his football.
