Rafael Benitez makes transfer decision on wantaway Everton midfielder Andre Gomes
Rafael Benitez has given the green light for Celta Vigo to complete a reunion with Everton midfielder Andre Gomes, according to Offsider journalist Aaron Dominguez.
Former Toffees boss Benitez is set to be appointed as the new head coach of LaLiga side Celta.
Gomes has found himself out of favour at Goodison Park and spent last season on loan at Ligue 1 outfit Lille.

Now, Spanish journalist Dominguez has reported negotiations are occurring between Celta and Everton over a loan move for Gomes.
It would represent a return to Spain for Gomes, who has represented both Valencia and Barcelona in the past.
No-brainer
When Gomes first arrived at Goodison Park in a loan deal from Barcelona back in August 2018, he became a fans’ favourite with his graceful movement and eye for a pass.
A permanent deal was struck in June 2019 but a serious ankle injury sustained in November that same year curtailed Gomes’ progress and since then the Portugal international just has not really been the same player.
It led to an inevitable temporary exit last season, with Gomes featuring 26 times in Ligue 1 for Lille scoring three goals.
Now it looks as though Benitez, who had a forgettable six-and-a-half-month spell in charge at Everton, wants to take Gomes back to Spain.
It is a move that would suit both Benitez and Gomes, with perhaps the only gripe for Everton being that it is seemingly another loan deal. But for all parties this is a move that needs to happen. It really is a no-brainer.
