Bill Kenwright to quit Everton within days as pundit shares what he’s heard at Goodison

Bill Kenwright is set to quit Everton within the next week, according to Don Hutchinson.

Hutchinson told ESPN (20 June) that Kenwright could be another high-profile board member to quit Goodison Park in the very near future.

“Sharpy went, Barrett-Baxendale went as well, then one or two directors went,” Hutchinson said.

“I think Bill’s going to go, from what I hear, in the next seven days. Obviously, they are trying to get new investment in, then take them into the new stadium (without going down next season).”

Fans have grown increasingly frustrated at the board throughout the season as the Toffees experienced another difficult campaign, just narrowly avoiding relegation on the final day of the season.

Nine days have passed since Denise Barrett-Baxendale, Grant Ingles and Graeme Sharp all left their roles at the club and it seems now that Kenwright’s days are well and truly numbered.

Disaster

Everton are flirting with some real danger.

While avoiding relegation for the past few seasons would have been seen as some real victories, the bigger picture is looking very bleak at the moment. Kenwright leaving is a positive but it’s Farhad Moshiri who fans will be desperate to see the back of.

He is threatening the real risk of running the club into the ground. A new stadium is on the way and no mistakes can be afforded otherwise the financial consequences might be catastrophic.

Everton are already in financial trouble and without Premier League money a move to a new stadium would simply be unsustainable. Whatever happens, they cannot get relegated.

And while these board changes are a start, until Moshiri is gone, the threat of relegation will continue to loom over.

The club will be under some serious pressure next season and Sean Dyche looks as if he will have it all to do.

In other Everton news, a club target is in talks with another European side.
