Chris Sutton shares ‘frustrating’ verdict on Everton ace Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Sean Dyche ‘can’t trust’ him

Chris Sutton believes Everton manager Sean Dyche “can’t trust” Dominic Calvert-Lewin due to his injury record.

The former Chelsea striker noted that the situation regarding the forward is “so frustrating” as he is clearly a talented player.

Calvert-Lewin’s last few campaigns at the Merseyside outfit have been heavily disrupted by various injury struggles, with the striker unable to play regularly.

“With Calvert-Lewin, it’s so frustrating,” Sutton said on 606 on BBC Radio 5 Live Sport.

“Because we saw when he got a little run of games towards the end of the season the impact which he can have. But Sean Dyche can’t trust him.”

Devastating

It really is an unfortunate situation, with Calvert-Lewin not able to catch a break on the injury front. There are plenty of players who constantly struggle with injuries, and the Toffees striker is one of them.

When fit, he certainly knows how to find the back of the net, but is also crucial in his club’s overall play as he holds the ball up expertly and wins plenty of fouls.

But unfortunately for Dyche and indeed all Toffees supporters, the forward cannot stay fit enough to enjoy a lengthy run in the starting XI.

It has put the manager in a tough situation, with Dyche now needing to make the decision to either stick with Calvert-Lewin and hope he can stay injury free, or else look elsewhere for attacking reinforcements.

If a new striker is signed, it could mean the end for Calvert-Lewin at Goodison Park, or he could become a back-up option and look to build match fitness behind the scenes in an attempt to force his way back into the picture.
