Jermaine Pennant shares Everton Bramley-Moore Dock ‘worry’ verdict live on talkSPORT

Jermaine Pennant has pondered whether or not Everton will lose their home fortress when they move into their new stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock.

The Toffees are expected to move into their new home in time for the 2024/25 season, but the switch could come mid-season, as per Sky Sports News (20 March).

But talkSPORT pundit Pennant believes there may be a “worry” surrounding the impending move away from Goodison Park.

“Obviously I played there many times and it’s not a very nice place to go for the away teams,” Pennant said live on talkSPORT. “It’s hostile and everything is on top of you. It has kind of been to a certain degree your fortress.

“Will that be taken away now with this new stadium, is that a little bit of a worry, going into a stadium that’s not got those roots there, the history behind it? Now it’s more of a neutral kind of ground.

Big change

Everton certainly aren’t the first major club to be moving stadiums, with the likes of West Ham famously leaving their beloved Upton Park for the London Stadium not so long ago.

Hammers fans definitely felt the impact of that move at the time, but it looks like they have finally settled into their new home.

The increase in capacity has certainly helped the East London side in that respect, and that is something that Everton can take comfort from, with the Toffees set for massive financial boosts when they do move to Bramley-Moore Dock.

And those financial boosts are very much needed at this moment in time at the Merseyside club, with the Toffees massively struggling both on and off the pitch amid this worrying situation.

But it will take some getting used to, with the iconic Goodison set to be missed by everyone associated with the club, having been their home for so many years.
