Dan Plumley has insisted it is no surprise to see Everton partner Stake making new moves in the Premier League despite the upcoming sponsor ban.

Chelsea are said to be in advanced talks over a deal with Stake, which will only last one year with the Premier League blocking a partnership with Paramount [talkSPORT].

The finance expert admitted that short-term deals and different variations are on the table until the ban, with Everton potentially taking advantage.

“We expected this,” he exclusively told Goodison News.

“We know the ban is coming in, but it will take time to transition and clubs will have deals that are playing through and they are still able to sign short-term deals, so we were always going to see a bit of this.

It’s often the best offer on the table and the need to get money in quickly that drives the decision-making. Despite the ban coming, I don’t think it is a surprise that we are still talking about this and will probably see a couple of short-term deals and then we’ll see variations of things that will play out in the next couple of years.”

With boardroom changes being confirmed in the past 24 hours, there are many decisions needing to be made in the near future on transfers, Bramley-Moore Dock and potential new sponsors.

This may go under the radar, but sooner rather than later, Everton will need to find a new partner.
