Everton must sign Viktor Gyokeres this summer after missing out in January

Everton should do everything they can to bring Coventry City striker Viktor Gyokeres to Goodison Park this summer after missing out in the January window.

Gyokeres had a fantastic season with Coventry, leading them to the playoff final where he was able to assist their only goal before they were eventually defeated on penalties, and the Daily Mail have shared an interest from Merseyside.

The Swedish forward was the second-highest goal scorer in the Championship last season, weighing in with 21 goals, and also provided 12 assists for his team, with a total of 33 goal contributions in 49 games played, picking up either a goal or an assist in 67% of his games.

At 6’1″ tall, he fits the stereotypical mould of a Sean Dyche striker and is as physically capable as he is technically brilliant, often pinning defenders before using his speed and control to spin and get the strike off, often to devastating effect.

If Dominic Calvert-Lewin is no longer to be trusted as the main man for Dyche as a result of his injury issues, Gyokeres represents the perfect replacement.

Along with his fantastic ability as a striker, Gyokeres has shown a willingness to run into the channels and can even play on the left wing when required – something Everton may utilise if Demarai Gray is to leave the club.

While Gyokeres should be Everton’s main target, a deal for Sheffield United star Iliman Ndiaye could be a good option if the newly promoted side are forced to sell their main man to raise funds.

In other Everton news, the Toffees could look to include Ellis Simms in their own transfer deals, as he looks set to leave this summer.
