Journalist issues transfer update on Everton ace Amadou Onana joining West Ham with Arsenal and Chelsea linked

PBS Sports journalist Paul Brown has issued an update on Amadou Onana leaving Everton to join West Ham while Arsenal and Chelsea are also linked.

In an interview with Give Me Sport, Brown stated that the Belgium international could consider leaving Goodison Park for East London.

In his view, despite Chelsea and Arsenal being linked with the 21-year-old [Het Nieuwsblad – April 2023], a top-level Champions League side will not want to sign him.

Everton

Brown said, “I do think he would be interested in West Ham, especially as they are in Europe again and just managed to win a trophy.

“He is young enough to know that he’s got time on his hands, and I don’t genuinely think that a top tier Champions League club is coming in for him this summer.

“While he showed flashes of what he can do last season, I don’t think he is in the kind of ballpark that a team like Chelsea or Arsenal are going to really want to push for.

“I know he has been linked to both of them at various times, but I can’t see that happening now. West Ham would be a really interesting place for him.”

Big money needed

While Everton and Sean Dyche will not want to lose Onana this summer, if the player is unhappy and looks to force an exit, the club will comply.

However, they can demand whatever fee they want for his services and he’s not likely to go on the cheap, given the outlay last summer.

Everton

Via the Independent in August 2022, £33 million was what the Toffees spent in order to sign him from Lille.

They beat West Ham to secure his services and it seems like the Hammers’ interest has not cooled down since then.

They’re determined to sign the Everton ace and it remains to be seen if clubs like Arsenal and Chelsea make a move for him.

Both sides are looking for defenders this summer and may be tempted by the prospect of him being open to a transfer this summer.

In Everton news, Alan Myers has shared a major update on Sean Dyche’s future after a development over his sacking has emerged over the past few days.
